I have some exciting news! Today I walked about 2.5km and it was the first time since I tore my ACL that I’ve been able to walk without pain and my legs felt strong! Pilates for the win!

For the past 1.5 years the medical options and suggestions for a hip fracture have failed me. So, on a hunt for balance, mobility and strength I came across Jaime’s Pilates studio. It’s only been two months and what a recovery! Already feeling back to my old self!

Highly recommend Jaime and her studio!

I started pilates with Jaime in February of this year. I was recovering from ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery and was on month 3 of 9 for recovery. I had a grueling physio exercise routine and I felt like I was in constant pain. I’ve never enjoyed the gym and one of the only things that my Physiotherapist cleared me for was Pilates. I explained my injuries to Jaime and she immediately modified my movements to accommodate my injury and she watched my form every class. I’ve never had an instructor pay so much attention to form and movement before and it was what I needed to work through healing. What comes with this type of surgery is also muscle mass being lost in the calf and quad which I work on every class with Jaime. There is a mental aspect to recovery and not being able to do anything that you used to enjoy physically due to so many limitations during recovery. Pilates helped me get through that rough part of recovery because the classes are fun and I was able to enjoy doing something physical again and I felt stronger after every class. I started to do Pilates 2-3 times a week and what I found was that the constant pain I was in improved immensely. After every class I felt like I made real progress and the stretching also makes a world of difference. The added bonus was that my arms and abs started to get stronger too. On my days that I don’t do pilates about 2 or 3 months later I started my 5km walk again. This was after a year of barely being able to walk due to my injury. I can now walk again without the pain I was experiencing. I just recently started to play baseball again earlier then my full recovery and my physiotherapist also noted that I had regained a lot of strength back in my calf and quad. I got this strength back doing Jaime’s classes. What I didn’t expect was how much I enjoy Pilates as I had never really done it before. Jaime made me feel comfortable, she encouraged me and noted my progress when sometimes I didn’t even realize how much improvement I had made. I have an appreciation for strength and mobility now that I didn’t have before doing Pilates with Jaime. I am very happy that I gave the Studio Boutique Pilates a chance as I can honestly say I don’t think I would have made as much progress with out Jaime as she has been an integral part of my healing journey
